This dataset compiles data on the annual afforestation area completed under national key forestry projects over the years, extracted from the appendix of the 2012 China Forestry Development Report. The included indicators cover year category, total afforestation area, Natural Forest Protection Project, Grain for Green Project, converted farmland afforestation, Beijing-Tianjin Sandstorm Source Control Project, Three-North and Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River Shelterbelt Development Programs and other key shelterbelt system construction initiatives, namely the Three-North Shelterbelt Development Program, Upper and Middle Reaches of the Yangtze River Shelterbelt Development Program, Coastal Shelterbelt Development Program, Pearl River Basin Shelterbelt Development Program, Taihang Mountain Afforestation Project, Plain Afforestation Project, and Fast-growing and High-yielding Commercial Timber Forest Base Construction Project, among others. Additionally, this dataset provides statistical data reflecting the development status of China's forestry industry in 2012, covering aspects such as forestry production, afforestation activities, forest products, forest pest and disease control, key project investment, and forest resource conditions. The specific contents are as follows: import and export values of major forest products from 2002 to 2011, import and export quantities of major forest products from 2002 to 2011, afforestation area by region in 2011 categorized by economic sector, afforestation method and forest type, total output value of the forestry industry in each region in 2011, output of major forest products in each region in 2011, afforestation area under key forestry projects in each region in 2011, and the status of forest pest, disease and rodent damage prevention and control in each region in 2011, etc.
