资源简介:
This collection comprises geodatabase and text data from the Becoming Christian in the British Midlands AD 400-1100 project. The project involved the creation of databases of archaeological, architectural and historical data centred around parish churches. The digital archive includes a searchable database and interactive map. Between AD 400-1100 the Midland people created the Christian society which underlies all subsequent developments. Over time, human relationships, assumptions, perceptions and practices were refocussed, and changed landscapes emerged, with the parishes, village churches, grave yards, and cathedrals still around us. This process, however, remains imperfectly understood. This Project, the first to study all the relevant sites in a whole region in detail over time rather than a selected few, gives a new level of understanding at the grass roots to show how and why people created their own kinds of Christianity.
