L-polynomials of binomial Artin--Schreier curves and maximality

We give a formulae for the L-polynomials of certain binomial Artin--Schreier curves, which are generalizations of Suzuki curves. We show that some of them are maximal curves. We also give explicit formulae for certain exponential sums.
