Aspirin eugenol ester (AEE) is a novel compound synthesized by esterifying and modifying the carboxyl group of aspirin with the hydroxyl group of eugenol, which successfully increases the stability of eugenol and reduces the gastrointestinal side effects of aspirin. Studies have shown that AEE possesses a variety of pharmacological activities, such as hypolipidemic, anti-inflammatory, and antioxidant, suggesting that AEE has a good potential in the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver injury. The aim of this study was to investigate the effect of AEE in protecting against alcoholic liver injury through in vivo and ex vivo experiments, and to elucidate the molecular mechanism of AEE in ameliorating alcoholic liver injury, so as to lay the foundation for developing AEE into an innovative drug for the prevention and treatment of alcoholic liver injury.
