Archaeology and UXO survey at Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) I-IV offshore windfarm, North Sea.

ADC Maritiem has conducted an archaeological supervision of an UXO survey and construction works in the wind farm zones Hollandse Kust Zuid (HKZ) I-IV in the Dutch Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ). During the investigations of MAG anomalies three possible archaeological remains were reported: an iron cast cannon, an anchor and an air crash site. The cannon and the anchor were relocated outside the cable corridor and monopile positions. Their new positions were recorded. The find of the remains of an air crash site were reported to RCE, RWS and the Ministry of Defence (Aalbers). It was agreed that the site should be undisturbed. Possible impact of the air crash site was mitigated in the first place by conducting additional geophysical research to determine the extent of the site itself. Secondly the planned construction work can be carried out in such away so as to avoid impact. After the construction is finished, an as built survey will be executed and reported to authorities.
