WGCPO Open Pine DSM - Landscape Level

<div>FOR non-AGOL ACCOUNT HOLDERS, DOWNLOAD THIS GEOSPATIAL DATA HERE: </div><div><br /></div><div>https://gis-fws.opendata.arcgis.com/search?tags=lmvjv</div><div><br /></div><div>This Open Pine Decision Support Model highlights high-priority areas at a landscape scale representing optimal habitat for three open-pine priority bird species in the southeast: Bachman’s Sparrow, Brown-headed Nuthatch, and Red-Cockaded Woodpecker. The model was created using an ensemble species distribution modeling approach to identify high priority regions – areas most likely to support these open-pine priority species - based on species survey data and 15 predictive covariates. Priority values were summarized at a focal landscape scale as defined by previously calculated dispersal distance estimates for each species. The purpose of this model is to guide conservation delivery by targeting management actions, such as prescribed fire and thinning, towards these high priority (and adjacent) areas with the goal of increasing overall open-pine habitat availability and connectivity.   </div><div><br /></div><div>The WGCPO Open Pine Decision Support Model, updated in 2023, prioritizes management and protection actions within existing pine and mixed pine/hardwood habitat according to the local and landscape-scale needs of three Open Pine Umbrella Species (brown-headed nuthatch, Bachman’s sparrow, and red-cockaded woodpecker). Development of the model is based upon habitat requirements described in the LMVJV’s Open Pine Landbird Plan for the West Gulf Coastal Plain/Ouachitas. </div><div><br /></div><div>The model was initially developed for both the WGCPO and EGCP geographies and at multiple spatial scales.
