Public Use Microdata Sample (US Census Bureau)

The Census Bureau's Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files enable advanced users to create customized estimates that are not part of the published releases. For the American Community Survey, PUMS files are available for samples of individual people or housing units. PUMS files use a specialized local geography called a Public Use Microdata Area (PUMA).
