Genome sequencing of Streptococcus strains from ruminants for taxonomic studies.. Streptococcus ruminantium

Streptococcus suis serotype 33 reference strain has shown to be a species other than S. suis. We found several Streptococcus strains from ruminants that sheared more than 99% identical 16S rRNA gene with serotype 33 reference strain. In order to clarify taxonomic position of these strains and Streptococcus suis serotype 33 reference strain, genomic relatedness was examined among 20 isolates from diseased ruminants and clinically healthy cattle along with serotypes 33 reference strain.
