Description:
1) Data is
from surface water surveys carried out in eight estuaries in SE
Queensland, Australia in 03/2016 (wet season) and 10/2016 (dry
season). The estuaries are labelled as No (Noosa River Estuary), Ma
(Maroochy River Estuary), Mo (Mooloolah River Estuary), Ca
(Caboolture River Estuary), Pi (Pine River Estuary), Br (Brisbane
River Estuary, including Oxley Creek, Ox), Lo and Al (Logan/Albert
Rivers Estuary), and Ne (Nerang River Estuary).
2) Data is from ex-situ incubations of intact sediment cores (0-20 cm) from three SE QLD estuary (Noosa River Estuary, Maroochy River Estuary, and Brisbane River Estuary). Cores were collected every ~three months (Dec 2016, Feb 2017, May 2017 & Aug 2017). Incubations were carried out with site water and conditions, and nutrient (NH4+, NO3-, PO43-) and gas (O2, CH4, N2O) fluxes between sediments and surface waters measured over a 12 h dark-light cycle. Cores were collected from different habitats within each estuary: bare mud upstream (S1), bare sand downstream (S2), bare mud downstream (S3), macroalgae vegetation (V1), seagrass Halophila (V2), or seagrass Zostera (V3).
