<p>West-German Guest Worker Data (1961–1973) at the labor office district level.</p>

<p>Data compiled from the West-German <i>Bundesanstalt für Arbeitsvermittlung und Arbeitslosenversicherung</i> (now <i>Bundesagentur für Arbeit</i>, Federal Employment Agency). We used the annual series <i>Anwerbung Vermittlung Beschäftigung Ausländischer Arbeitnehmer Erfahrungsbericht</i> and <i>Ausländer Arbeitnehmer</i>. These report the stock of foreign and guest workers by country of origin (Italy, Greece, Spain, Turkey, Yugoslavia, Portugal, Tunisia, Morocco).</p>
<p>Most records are available as of 1964. Data are as of September, only in 1973 January is the reporting month.</p>

<p>The provided shapefile map of the German Labor Office Districts was constructed using an official map on these regions (for details see the related publication). The map can be used to combine the Guest Worker data with other regional data from other administrative units (e. g. counties).</p>
