Optimizing Public Service through Strategic Leadership:Aligning governance with National Development Goals in Kenya

The optimization of public service is a critical requirement for sustainable development, citizen satisfaction and national cohesion in Kenya. Progressive frameworks like the Big Four Agenda, Vision 2030, the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA) and the 2010 Kenyan Constitution have been put into place, but many public institutions continue to struggle with inefficiencies, a lack of accountability and a poor alignment of service delivery with national priorities. With its values-based, visionary and results-driven approach to governance, strategic leadership has become a potent tool in resolving these systemic problems. It helps public servants to not only efficiently address new issues but also to foresee chances for long-lasting change.
