Environmental isolate, enriched from willow soil (University of East Anglia) by low concentrations of isoprene. The first well-characterised Gram negative isoprene degrading bacterium. This bacterium was the subject of an in-depth characterisation study to determine the mode of isoprene metabolism compared to Rhodococcus sp. AD45, the Gram positive model for isoprene degradation.
