Eating Disorder Syptoms - Relationships with Meaning in Life

This research project examines the relationship between eating disorder symptoms and meaning in life, in a (non-clinical) female student sample. Although meaning in life has been suggested to be a potential maintenance variable of eating disorders, empirical research on the association between meaning in life and eating disorders is scarce and limited by methodological weaknesses. Therefore, the current study aimed to expand on previous findings by studying the relationship between meaning in life and eating disorder symptoms in a homogeneous sample of undergraduate women, using a validated measure of eating disorder symptoms (EDE-Q) and including two different measures of life meaning (MLQ, MEMS).
