Mycobacterium abscessus complex (MABC) infection is one of emerging nontuberculous mycobacterial infections with increasing clinical concern. Members of MABC frequently show natural resistance to macrolide antibiotics while subgroups of MABC are susceptible to them. Therefore, rapid and accurate discrimination of macrolide-susceptible subgroups is required for early effective treatments of MABC infection. Here we established PCR based- or DNA chromatography-based assays using whole genome sequencing data of 148 clinical or environmental MABC isolates.
