The here presented multi-locus Nanopore read data comprises a total of nine Leontodon albanicus accessions (Compositae, Cichorieae). The samples were prepared for sequencing using the AFLPseq genome-reduction method as proposed by Dorfner et al. (2022, DOI: https://doi.org/10.1002/aps3.11484), with the addition of conducting a double digest approach using the restriction enzymes MseI and EcoRI and the 'Ligation by Sequencing LSK114' protocol by Oxford Nanopore Technologies. With a modified version of the SLANG pipeline (Dorfner et al. 2022), 9,260 SNPs were inferred. After calculation of pairwise Jukes-Cantor distances, a PCoA plot demonstates clear isolation of the Cika and Nemercke populations of L. albanicus on the first PCo axis (48.4% of total variance). In accordance to morphological data (Conti et al. 2025), we therefore propose to treat the Cika population of L. albanicus as an independent new subspecies called Leontodon albanicus subsp. acroceraunicus.
