资源简介:
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC 2008) identified wetlands as the most vulnerable landscape feature affected by climate change.
The National Wetlands Inventory (NWI), established in 1975 by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), provides wetlands data in map and digital form for the United States.
The NWI database contains map and summary information about the status and trends for wetland types including: estuarine wetlands, palustrine wetlands, lacustrine wetlands, and deep water habitats in the United States. Statistical data is also available on wetland changes and wetland loss. The Emergency Wetlands Resources Act of 1986 requires that updates of the wetland status and trends be produced on a 10-year cycle with reports due in 1990, 2000, 2010, etc.
A Google Earth .kmz file as well as Web Map Services (WMS) are available to view the datasets. Ther is also an online Wetlands Mapper which provides access to the most recent digital data: http://www.fws.gov/wetlands
