Annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2016

The annual report of air quality measurements in Austria 2016 contains the results of the air quality measurements of the federal states and the Federal Environment Agency. In 2016, exceedances of the limit values of the Immission Control Act-Air (IG-L) were registered for six parameters. The annual average value for nitrogen dioxide was exceeded in eight federal states on busy roads. Particulate matter (PM10) exceeded the daily mean value in Carinthia and Graz. In the case of benzo(a)pyrene, sulphur dioxide and dust precipitation (including lead), isolated exceedances were measured. The limits and targets for carbon monoxide, PM2.5, heavy metals and benzene were met throughout Austria in 2016. In 2016, air quality pollution in Austria was significantly below the long-term average for most pollutants.
