Microorganisms of the Berre lagoon, France

The Berre lagoon is a shallow semi-confined ecosystem connected to the Mediterranean Sea in southeastern France. It is highly submitted to anthropogenic disturbances, and it receives freshwater from three rivers, implicated in the lagoon's eutrophication and inducing high salinity level variations along the year. We isolated and sequenced the genome of a strain, designated Nitratireductor aquimarinus strain MNA2.1, from the sediments of the lagoon.The genome contains several genes involved in salinity stress tolerance.
