Evaluating E3SM Global Storm-Resolving Model Simulations of Deep Convection: Insights from DP-SCREAM during TRACER
收藏资源简介:
This dataset contains model output from the Doubly-Periodic Simplified Cloud-Resolving E3SM Atmosphere Model (DP-SCREAM) used to evaluate model performance during the TRACER campaign. For reference, simulations from the E3SMv2 Single Column Model (SCM) are included to enable direct comparison with DP-SCREAM at a 3km horizontal resolution over a three-month period. To investigate model sensitivity, additional DP-SCREAM 3km simulations were conducted within the SHOC (Simplified Higher Order Closure) scheme for August 2022. These include experiments with increased mixing length (mix_incr_run) and enhanced buoyancy flux (bf_run) which were compared to the control run (DP-SCREAM 3km run for August 2022). Horizontal resolution sensitivity was evaluated by comparing DP-SCREAM simulations at 3km and 0.5km from August 5 to August 15, 2022. To analyze the formation of unrealistic fog, we used the month-long DP-SCREAM 3 km simulation for August 2022, supplemented by a series of time-initialized runs starting on August 6 at 00:00, 06:00, 12:00, and 18:00 local time.
