The ovarian development process of Onychostoma macrolepis undergoes distinct annual cyclic changes in which small non-coding RNAs (sncRNAs) could play vital roles. We systematically profiled the levels of four sncRNA classes (miRNA, piRNA, tsRNA and rsRNA) across ovaries in the late overwintering period (in March) and breeding period (in June) by high-throughput sequencing. Aim of this sequencing project was to bring insight into mechanisms for fish physiology in different developmental periods.
