This project aims to elucidate the culturable and unculturable bacterial microbiome of Saccharina latissima (Phaeophyceae). Bacteria were isolated by direct plating from ground algal material and cultured on R2A medium. The obtained sequences were barcoded by Sanger-sequencing of the 16S. Metabarcoding of the bacterial community was carried out by Illumina 16S-Miseq sequencing of selected cultures.
