NRS-18072 | Case papers under the Deserted Wives and Children Act 1901-1939 and the Maintenance Act 1964 [Griffith Court of Petty Sessions]

This series contains papers relating to summons and charge cases at the Griffith Court of Petty Sessions (Children's Court), under the Deserted Wives and Children Act 1901-1939 and the Maintenance Act 1964. Most of the cases relate to wife desertion and disobedience of maintenance orders, though a number are concerned with the maintenance of illegitimate children.Common papers for each case can include a case cover sheet, the information laid by the Justice of the Peace, an application for a Summons, a Summons by the Court, a Warrant of Committment, a Proof of Case, a Recognizance of Bail, a Warrant of Apprehension, a Minute of Order for Maintenance, Minutes of Varied Orders, a Record of Exhibits, court depositions and transcripts.Each case that appeared before the court was numbered consecutively, starting at one at the beginning of each year. The case papers are bundled together by year, then by that consecutive number within each bundle. Not every case that appeared before the Court is present within the papers. Some bundles contain only  'dismissed cases'
