The Coix Genome Provides Insights into Hull Thinning: A Key Step Controlled by Ccph1 in Coix Domestication. Coix aquatica Roxb.

Despite the importance of Coix, the related genetic and genomic research is very limited. Here we report a pseudo-chromosomal level whole-genome assembly of a C. agrestis Roxb. var Daheishan, sequenced using PacBio platform. Further, we show that hull in Coix is controlled by a single gene, Ccph1, which has changed Coix hull from stoney to papery, a key step in Coix domestication and evolution.
