In our lab, we are trying to bridge the gap between fundamentals and actual implementation by using the industrially relevant technique of inkjet printing (IJP) for the manufacture of small organic photovoltaics (OPVs). IJP allows for precise, efficient, and digitally-controlled deposition of materials on a small scale. Previously, we have studied the correlation between processing (printing) parameters, material crystallinity, and device performance. Now, we would like to propose the study of the influence of post-processing (primarily thermal annealing) on material crystallinity, as this has been found to have notable effects on the shape of J-V characteristics and OPV performance.
