Results of bivariate correlations (Spearman's rho) between religion, communism, HDI and its subcomponents, plus ancestry and geographic effects for each variable. Values in the first nine rows below the diagonal show rho and p-values of correlations between all predictors. The last two rows show results from an intercept-only model testing for either shared ancestry (λ') or geographic distance (ϕ) effects, averaged over the Bayesian posterior distribution of trees. We used a likelihood ratio test to evaluate support for these models against a null model with no ancestry or geography effects. Significance levels: * < .05; ** < .01; ***< .001.
