Cobetiasp. cqz5-12 is isolated from the rotten SargassumFusiforme. It is a marine bacteria and should be cultivated in the plate with NaCl. Itcould degrade alginate effectively. After cultured in the liquid flask using alginate as the sole carbon source, both of the fermentation supernatant and cell showed high alginate lyase activity. In order to obtain the sequences of related degradation genes and new functional protein coding-genes, we sequenced the genome.Because of its high activity of degrading alginate, this strain could be appliedto produce alginate lyase in the future.
