资源简介:
Photograph of a Walapai Indian woman, the wife of Chief Shurum, with a photographer, W.H. James (George Wharton James?), Hackbury, Arizona, ca.1900. She stands, at left, with her head bowed wearing a striped patterned button-up blouse and a long dark skirt. Around her neck hangs a light leather or cloth bib or apron with tassels (the chief's insignia of office). Her dark hair has bangs cropped straight across and hangs to her shoulders. Her eyes are closed as she is blind. He stands, at right, with his hands raised as if in submission. He is wearing dark trousers, jacket and vest, over a light shirt with tie, and a hat. Behind them is the wooden wall of a native dwelling. A pail hangs from a nail in the wall.
