Entities linked to the Amazon film expeditions led by Adolf Freiherr von Dungern

This dataset is part of a data paper submitted to the Journal of Open Humanities Data. It provides a structured representation of Adolf Freiherr von Dungern’s film expeditions in the Brazilian Amazon during the 1920s. This dataset aims to facilitate further research, cross-referencing, and reuse within the fields of film history, digital humanities, history of science and archival studies. The dataset contains 57 items extracted from Wikidata and curated by the authors. Each record includes five properties: four drawn directly from Wikidata (ID, Link, Label, and Description) and one created by the authors, entity type, which classifies the items into six categories: film expedition, agent, film, publication, archive, and film company. The dataset documents two film expeditions (2) undertaken by Dungern, each financed by a different film company (2). The agent category (11) includes individuals who participated in or were connected to the expeditions and their outcomes. The film category (10) lists the titles produced during the expeditions as well as Dungern’s earlier works. The publication category (20) covers books, newspapers, and magazine articles that reference or discuss the expeditions and films, while archive (12) identifies the institutions where related materials were retrieved.
