资源简介:
Bio-degradable Gemini surfactants are dimeric surfactants incorporating hydrolysable moieties into their hydrophobic constituents. Their greater antimicrobial efficacy compared to monomeric analogues creates potential for industrial formulation in personal care products. However, their interactions with the bacterial membrane are not well understood. In collaboration with P&G, the world’s largest personal care product manufacturer, we propose using small angle neutron scattering (SANS) to investigate the changes in morphology of bacteria-mimicking liposomes comprised of DDPE, DPPG and cardiolipin upon surfactant binding. The results will provide mechanistic details of the interactions between these novel biodegradable Gemini surfactants and membranes, guiding their future rational molecular design.
