Resource availability enhances positive tree diversity effects on carbon and nitrogen accrual in natural forests

By analysing Canada’s National Forest Inventory database, this article presents, for the first time, continental-scale evidence that the effects of tree diversity on decadal accumulation of C and N in tree biomass and forest soils is strongly dependent on resource availability and non-resource related stress gradients
