资源简介:
This collection comprises images, tabular data, and GIS from an archaeological excavation undertaken by Worcestershire Archaeology in late 2020 on land to the west of Dines Green, Worcester between Oldbury Road and the A44 Bromyard Road. Archaeological remains were identified in all six excavation areas and features could be dated to the late-Neolithic to early-Bronze Age, Roman, medieval, post-medieval and modern periods. Archaeological features identified within Areas 3 and 5 were agrarian in character and of low significance. Prehistoric archaeology was limited to a probable burnt mound deposit located within Area 2 and residual artefacts, comprising pottery and flint, from elsewhere. A radiocarbon date on a fragment of charcoal from the mound returned a late-Neolithic to early-Bronze Age date, which places it earlier than the typical middle to late-Bronze Age chronology of such features. Romano-British activity at the site could be broadly split into two phases, with evidence suggesting activity began in the 2nd century AD and continued into the early-4th century. Mid-Roman activity was centred on two probable stock enclosures located within Area 1.
