The series consists of moving image and sound files for tourist sites and destinations which were used in promotional and advertising campaigns for Tourism New South Wales.The series includes both master and copy versions which were produced in co-operation with other government agencies, advertisers and commercial production companies.The subjects encompass the 1988 Bicentennial Tall Ships, the 2000 Sydney Olympics, Tamworth Country Music Festival and footage of destinations and events around NSW.The formats of the records comprise of 16 mm (millimetre) film, audio cassettes, Betacam SP, CD-ROM, DAT (Digital Audio Tape), DVD, DVC Pro, Mini DV (DVC), U-matic and VHS.The tapes are variously labelled as masters, copies, dubs (copies) TVCs (Television Commercials) and VNRs (Video News Releases). The series includes pre-edit camera tapes, sometimes labelled as ‘rushes’.The aspect ratio varies from 4:3 to 16:9 as a reflection of the transition from analogue to digital technology at the time the records were created. (1)The tapes and discs are sequentially numbered. Where durations of moving images are indicated with ‘ [minute] or “ [second], for example 2’ 25”, it represents 2 minutes and 25 seconds. Endnotes1.
