Bundewallah, Berry NSW - Restoration of Illawarra Subtropical Rainforest

This project will protect and restore Lowland Rainforest of Subtropical Australia (an endangered ecological community) in the Illawarra region by clearing 0.5 hectares of severely degraded rainforest of invasive weeds (such as privet, lantana, and tobacco). Weed control will complement rehabilitation works on the adjacent public nature reserve, increase connectivity with regenerating riparian rainforest areas, and reduce the impact and spread of weeds into relatively undisturbed rainforest further up the escarpment. Changes in the number and density of rainforest species will be monitored and opportunities for community involvement will be provided through landcare days and seed collection.
