During this transit eight Autonomous Lagrangian Circulation Explorers (ALACE) floats will be deployed and surface ocean water samples from the region near 12S and 150W will be collected. These samples are for a time series study of the ocean carbon system which is part of an overall study of the global carbon cycle. "
