This study evaluated the feasibility of biodegradation of high molecular weight hydrocarbon-contaminated soil during seasonal freezing and thawing. . Biodegradation is proportional to unfrozen water retention and alpha-value in the power form of the conventional soil freezing characteristic curve. Microbial community shifted due to the soil treatment and soil temperature at the thawing phase. This study indicated the feasibility of the enhanced and extended biodegradation of high molecular weight hydrocarbon-contaminated soil after summer to the next summer.
