As of 2023, solar photovoltaic was the renewable technology with the highest capacity installed worldwide, amounting to 1.41 terawatts. Hydropower followed, with an installed capacity of 1.27 terawatts worldwide. In that year, the global installed renewable energy capacity reached some 3.87 terawatts, up from 3.4 terawatts one year earlier.
