资源简介:
This study aimed to explore the urinary microbiome in children under 14 years of age with congenital anomalies of the kidney and urinary tract (CAKUT) that predispose them to urinary tract infections (UTIs). Conducted as a single-center, cross-sectional study at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, it included 80 children of which 36 with newly diagnosed CAKUT (PUV, VUR, and UPJO) and 44 (age and gender matched) controls without genitourinary disorders. Patients with CAKUT were further categorized into high- and low-risk groups for UTI based on disease phenotype and clinical presentation. Sterile urine samples were collected and analyzed using 16S rRNA gene sequencing to characterize bacterial profiles, aiming to identify microbial patterns associated with UTI risk in this pediatric population.
