Impacts of Flood on Human Health

Flood events are the most frequent natural disasters and are increasing due to climate change, but the health impacts are unclear. This thesis investigates the health impacts of flood events. Beyond immediate risks, it shows floods increase the risk of death, hospitalization for various diseases, and adverse birth outcomes. These health effects can persist for weeks or months. The study identifies vulnerable populations and critical exposure timings. Findings underscore the need for enhanced disaster preparedness, stronger healthcare systems, and targeted support to protect human health from future floods.
