Bacterial diversity of white microbial mats in marine mangrove ecosystems of Guadeloupe

White microbial mats are dense, complex microbial communities that play a key ecological role in their ecosystems. These mats are widespread and may represent a unique, underexplored microbial niche in mangrove ecosystems. In this study, we present the first characterization of bacterial composition of white microbial mats observed in marine mangrove sediments in Guadeloupe, using 16S rRNA metabarcoding. This study, highlight the diversity ecological importance, and environmental responsiveness of white microbial mats in providing novel insights into their microbial assemblages and potential functional role within mangrove ecosystems.
