<p>The samples from which the mite remains have been extracted were all taken from the Late-glacial deposits at the section 'Below Sugarloaf Hill'. The oldest sample (A) was dated to c. 13,000 BP and was taken from a moss layer within the earliest Holocene deposits at the site. An environmental reconstruction was made on the basis of these samples.</p>
