资源简介:
Serratia marcescens is a human pathogen responsible for many nosocomial infections. In 2012 ten premature infants and newborn were diagnosed with S. marcescens infection at the Charité university hospital of Berlin. Additional 10 babies and one 14 year-old child were tested positive for S. marcescens on germ screening without showing illness. Determining the genomic sequence is a prerequisite for tracing outbreak epidemiology. Whole genome sequencing and comparison to reference strains can also uncover structural rearrangements and transfer of mobile genetic elements like phages and plasmids. We sequenced 23 outbreak isolates using the illumina MiSeq NGS system and completed one of them by adding PacBio reads, amounting to a 5123091 bp circular genome. This is the fourth complete publically available S. marcescens genome, and the first one from a clinical setting, as the other three are from Drosophilia, leaf-cutter ants and a paper machine.
