Data Set Overview This data set contains science, calibration and checkout images acquired by the OSIRIS Wide Angle Camera system on the Rosetta mission. The images were acquired during the CRUISE 2 mission phase covering the period from 20050405 to 20060729. The images are CODMAC level 2. The CRUISE2 mission phase was used nominally only for instrument checkout. Of scientific interest the OSIRIS camera was operated during the NASA Deep Impact spacecraft encounter with Comet Tempel 1. The OSIRIS dataset contains about three weeks of monitoring observations of the impact cloud plus a sequence of hight speed imaging around the Deep Impact encounter itself. The dataset covers the following discrete activities: Activity: Deep Impact of type: SCIENCE Period from: 20050628 to: 20050714 Observations: Deep Impact Activity: PC1 of type: CHECKOUT Period from: 20051004 to: 20051004 Observations: PC1 Activity: PC2 of type: CHECKOUT Period from: 20060308 to: 20060308 Observations: PC2 Essential Reading The following documents, located on the dataset DOCUMENT folder, are essential for the understanding and interpretation of this data set: OSIRIS_SSR.PDF: Gives an overview of the science goals of the OSIRIS instrument and an overview of the instrument hardware. OSIRIS_SIS.PDF: Describes the OSIRIS PDS header Related Data Sets The following PDS data sets are related: ROXOSIWAC3CR2CRUISE2V1.4 ROXOSINAC2CR2CRUISE2V1.4 ROXOSINAC3CR2CRUISE2V1.4 Processing The PDS images in this data set were generated using the OSIRIS telemetry processing facility at the Max Planck Institute for Solarsystem Research from the raw telemetry stream sent down fro truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
