Gene database of Pseudomonas protegens Pf-5

<i>Pseudomonas protegens</i> Pf-5 is an important biocontrol bacterium present in multitude of environmental surfaces. A Gram-negative bacterium with a versatile metabolism, <i>P. protegens</i> Pf-5 is emerging as an important biotechnology workhorse, particularly in the area of recovering useful metals from metal ores or electron scrap materials. Herein, the annotated genome sequence of <i>P. protegens</i> Pf-5 (NCBI Reference Sequence: NC_004129.6) was parsed by an in-house MATLAB algorithm to yield a gene database comprising all gene names and their associated gene function and gene sequence. The database should find use in a variety of metabolic engineering and biotechnology applications seeking to demonstrate novel use of the bacterium in environmental remediation and crop protection through recombinant DNA technology.<br><br>
