Results of bird surveys in the North-Western Azov region in 1988-2000

The dataset contains data on the registration of 225 bird species in the North-Western Azov region within Zaporizhzhia and Kherson administrative regions of Ukraine. Counts were carried out mainly on the Bolgradsky Syvashyk, Utlyutskyi, Molochnyi, Tubalskyi estuaries; spits and bays of the Azov Sea - Obytochna spit and bay, Berdyansk spit and bay, as well as at the mouths of small rivers flowing into these reservoirs. All estuaries have been to some extent transformed by anthropogenic pressure.
The research area covers (in whole or in part) 3 Ramsar wetlands: “Molochnyi Estuary”, “Obitochnaya Bay and Spit”, “Berdyansk Bay and Spit and Estuary Zone of the Berda River”.
Since 2009, the Azov National Park was created on the territory of the study area, but during this period either reserves were located here, or the territory did not have a protected status.
