Isolation and Characterization of Phages against Enterobacter spp

This project focuses on the isolation and characterization of a bacteriophage targeting Enterobacter cloacae, a Gram-negative bacterium belonging to the Enterobacteriaceae family. E. cloacae is clinically significant, associated with infections such as septicemia, urinary tract infections, and pneumonia, and is part of the ESKAPE group, known for multidrug resistance. With the rise of antimicrobial resistance, bacteriophages offer a promising alternative or adjunct to antibiotics. This study explores the potential application of phage therapy to combat E. cloacae infections in poultry, contributing to the development of sustainable approaches for managing bacterial infections in veterinary settings.
