Platycodon grandiflorus is one of the medicinal plants widely used as a crude drug due to the various triterpenoid saponins contained in its root extracts. We performed transcriptome analysis of roots, leaves, and petals of this plant to identify genes involved in triterpenoid saponin biosynthesis.
