Cruise purpose is to investigate sound propagation in the Philippine Sea, a region of anomalously thin crust and anomalously deep water. This leg will entail measurements of seismic wave propagaion from explosives to a distance of 500 km using Ocean Botton Seismoters.in crust and anomalously deep water.
