Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Interviews with Small Children

This data material forms part of a major survey of people's time consumption. The survey comprises the following data files: # #DDA-1237: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Background Variables. #DDA-1342: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Questionnaires for Adults. #DDA-1343: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Telephone Interviews with Adults. #DDA-1344: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Day Form for Adults. #DDA-1345: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Questionnaires for Children. #DDA-1346: Danish Leisure Study, 1987: Interviews with Small Children. # #The part-survey described here deals with time consumption of small children (i.e. children born in 1975-1979) in the selected households. # #The questions deal with the following issues: #- whether the respondent lives with her/his mother and/or father; whether the respondent has her/his own room and, if so, whether the respondent has a radio, a record player, a cassette tape recorder, a TV set or a personal computer in the room; how often and where the respondent is together with her/his friends in the leisure time; how often the respondent is alone in the home; and which meals the respondent usually eats together with the parents; #- whether the respondent sometimes does various things in the home, how long this usually takes and whether it is a duty for the respondent; #- whether the respondent has gainful employment, what the work consists of, how much time is spent on it, and how much money the respondent makes; whether the respondent receives pocket money; and what the respondent spends her/his money on; #- time when the respondent gets up in the morning and goes to bed in the evening (Monday-Friday); when the respondent is at school; which form the respondent is in, and average time spent on homework; #- the respondent's spare time activities: for a maximum of seven activities the following has been coded: type of activity, on which day it takes place, and which period of time; in addition to these regular activities questions are asked regarding a number of other activities which may take place less regularly; #- it is specifically asked whether the respondent listens to music (record player or tape recorder), and where the music is obtained; how often the respondent watches videos, where and what is watched and how much time is spent on it; when the respondent last went to the cinema and together with whom; whether the respondent reads newpapers and, if so, what the respondent reads; the respondent's reading habits in general, and whether the respondent uses school libraries and public libraries or a mobile library; which radio programmes the respondent usually listens to; and which TV programmes the respondent usually watches
