AHODO Discovery Dataset v0.3: African Humanities Resource Discovery and Rights Metadata

AHODO (African Humanities Open Data Observatory) Discovery Dataset v0.3 is a cross-institutional discovery dataset containing 11,650 provenance-linked records for African humanities and humanities-adjacent resources across repositories, museums, publishers, and periodicals. The dataset is designed to support discovery while preserving distinctions between holding location, subject geography, access, copyright and licensing, computational-reuse evidence, and community-governance information. AHODO does not treat public accessibility as evidence of open licensing, does not infer community permissions, and records uncertainty explicitly where rights or descriptive information could not be established. Version 0.3 contains 10,398 core-humanities records, 1,127 humanities-adjacent records, and 125 broader discovery records. The release includes structured provenance and resource-level rights information together with source attribution, documentation, schema, known limitations, and integrity checks. Important: AHODO is a discovery and rights/provenance metadata dataset. It does not redistribute the underlying cultural works represented by its records, and inclusion in AHODO does not constitute blanket permission for computational use, AI/ML training, reproduction, or other reuse.
