Russian chernozem soil – a black-coloured soil – is very fertile soil producing a high agricultural yield for many years. Traditional methods of soil analysis provide very rough and ambiguous results in the analysis of microbial diversity. Even 16S rDNA PCR analysis has essential limitations for the family and species analysis. That is why the deep sequencing approach using soil DNA shotgun libraries should be used for more detailed characterization of microbiome communities in different groups of chernozem.
